OFT test court case against Foxtons begins

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has begun its test case in the High Court against the notorious London estate agents, Foxtons (last 'In the News' on 28 Feb 08). The Office of Fair Trading is challenging terms in Foxtons contracts which allow them to continue to charge a landlord commission long after the initial tenancy agreement has expired - i.e. even if they no longer have anything to do with the tenant or the property.

If the OFT wins, then it will have ramifications for all letting agent contracts.
