Microsoft unveils 'Bing' in bid to beat Google

Computing giant Microsoft has unveiled a search engine which it hopes will rival Google. Bing, which Microsoft describes as a 'decision engine', is designed to understand what users are searching for on the internet and display more than just the traditional “ten blue links” pointing to websites.

Microsoft's previous search offerings were called MSN Search, Windows Live Search and Live Search. None of these has successfully challenged Google's dominance of the market.
