Allison Pike's Chessington Adventure*

Holiday Inn, London Chessington

Allison Pike have completed their largest contract to date with the handover of the new 150 bedroom Holiday Inn London Chessington. The project took around 12 months to design and a further year to construct .

Located at the Chessington World of Adventures theme park the hotel has a safari styling throughout without over dominant design theming. Aimed at a mixture of family and corporate customers there are family rooms with separate children’s bunk beds and executive doubles. The hotel features a dramatic 3 storey atrium linking all floors together with the main circulation space. A leisure centre with pool together with bar, restaurants and a conference centre complete the main facilities .

Externally the building follows the safari theme with large overhanging eaves, horizontal bands of timber boarding and render and projecting timber balconies. The building features a thatched roof main porte cochere and a rustic natural stone plinth. Set within a park the public areas overlook a new water feature within the safari park, constructed as part of the development. The hotel is linked to the World of Adventures but accessed separately with close links to the M25. 80

Allison Pike Partnership carried the full design and supervision of both the building shell and the hotel fit out of bars, restaurants, leisure, conference and bedroom facilities.
