Companies are "buying" Twitter followers

The Australian social media marketing company uSocial is offering to find Twitter followers for business and personal users in return for a fee. Prices start at £53 for 1,000 going up to 100,000 people as the maximum number of followers available to buy. uSocial does this by targeting Twitter-users who are most likely to be interested in the business concerned.

Businesses are become more alive to Twitter as a marketing tool. However, the UK furniture and interiors chain, Habitat got into trouble last week after it used Iran-associated hash-tags to drive people to its Twitter page.
