Tesco hit back at 'Tescoland' accusation

Tesco's chief executive, Sir Terry Leahy, has hit back at Waitrose's public warnings about the dangers of the UK become 'Tescoland' (covered in 'In the News' on 8 October 2007). Sir Terry is believed to have written to his opposite number at Waitrose, calling for him to set the record straight. Both sides are also believed to have consulted their lawyers in relation to the comments - which could develop into a 'hearts and minds' battle between the two supermarket chains.
