EasyJet acquires extra Gatwick capacity in GB Airways deal

Budget airline operator, EasyJet, announced yesterday that it had bought British Airways franchisee, GB Airways, for £103.5 million. Under the deal, GB Airways, which operates many of British Airways' flights to Southern Europe under British Airways livery, will give EasyJet its landing slots at Gatwick. This will bring EasyJet's total capacity at Gatwick to 24%, making it the airport's largest airline operator.

GB Airways' franchise agreement with British Ariways will terminate as a result of the deal.
