Online produce less fresh than off the shelf

Supermarket food bought online may be less fresh than products picked off the shelf, according to a new report. 10 of the freshest common items of non-organic produce, such as a pint of milk, chicken breasts and a bag of salad were purchased from Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda and Waitrose stores. The same items were then purchased from the online stores of the same supermarkets. On average, the store's best-before dates for the online products were more than a day earlier than the items on the shelf.
