Compensation announced for New Year rail disruption
Following the New Year disruption to 120,000 rail passengers reported In the News on 2 January 2008, National Express has negotiated with Network Rail for compensation of approximately £3 million. This is to refund passengers affected by engineering disruptions at London's Liverpool Street Station. National Express operates the One franchise out of Liverpool Street.
Virgin Trains is expected to claim £6m compensation for the disruption caused on the West Coast Mainline.
