Major rail travel disruption expected over Easter
Similar disruption to the New Year rail disruption is expected over the Easter break as Network Rail plan to conduct engineering works at 35 locations across Britain. The New Year disruption (reported 'In the News' on 2 January 2008) affected 120,000 passengers and Network Rail were fined £14 million as a result. The Easter works will disrupt the west coast main line between London and Glasgow, the east coast line between York and Doncaster, the great western line between Gloucester and Newport and the transpennine line between Huddersfield and Leeds.
