Thomas Cook employees charged over gas deaths

Two employees of travel company Thomas Cook have been charged with negligence over the deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning of two British children who were staying at a holiday apartment in Corfu in October 2006. The five-star apartment, which was booked in Britain through Thomas Cook but operated by a company in Corfu, is believed to have contained a faulty appliance which led to the children being overcome by carbon monoxide as they slept.

Thomas Cook say that they are standing by the employees concerned (who have not been named) and are confident that they will be fully vindicated.
