Air France/KLM buys Alitalia
Alitalia, the struggling Italian national airline, has been bought by Air-France/KLM for £107 million. Alitalia has faced greater competition from budget airlines, Ryanair and Easyjet and has been criticised for being over staffed and inefficient. Alitalia will continue to operate under the same Alitalia brand.
