In the News - Parking fines

Local authorities to set variable parking fines

New laws will allow local authorities to set different fines for different parking offences. Local authorities will have the power to issue fines of up to £120 in London and £70 outside London. The level of the fine will be determined by the nature of the offence. For example parking on a double yellow line will command a higher fine than overstaying a pay-and-display ticket. The new laws come into force on 31 March 2008.
