Mobile users could soon get unlimited call packages
Mobile phone users in the UK could soon be able to pay a monthly tarrif for unlimited calls under proposals put to the Competition Commission by mobile phone network operator, 3. The proposals involve the UK's five mobile networks - 3, O2, Orange, Vodafone and T-Mobile - stopping charging each other to connect calls to each other's networks and to BT landlines. This would allow networks to offer unlimited calls for a fixed monthly fee.
Unlimited call packages are already available in countries such as the US and Germany where mobile operators do not charge for inter-network connections.
