Up to £5,000 arrangement fee for HSBC's mortgage deal
Following HSBC's announcement that it would match fix rate mortgage deals (reported 'In the News' yesterday), it has emerged that arrangement fees could be as much as £5,000. For a borrower with a loan of £120,000 at a fixed rate 4.94% a £999 arrangement fee would be applicable, however a loan of £250,000 on the same rate would command a fee of £4,099. Although these fees are substantially higher than first thought, brokers still believe that HSBC's deal will be at or near the top of the best mortgage buy tables. The deal is open from Monday and only runs for five weeks.
