Tesco to compensate disabled motorist after failing to help her
Supermarket chain Tesco has been ordered to pay compensation after its petrol station staff failed to help a disabled motorist check her tyre pressures. A court ruled that, in failing to help, they were acting in breach of the Disablity Discrimination Act. The Tesco staff refused to help initially on grounds of insurance and then health and safety, saying that they feared they would be liable in the event of a subsequent road accident involving the vehicle.
