In the News - OFT investigation

Top household brands under investigation for price fixing

The Office of Fair Trading is conducting an investigation into price fixing between leading supermarkets and their suppliers. This includes, amongst others supermarkets Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Tesco and suppliers Coca-Cola, GlaxoSmithKline, Kimberly-Clark, Procter & Gamble and Unilever. Together the suppliers own many of the UK's top household brands such as Andrex, PG Tips and Coca-Cola. If found guilty by the OFT, it would mean UK shoppers paid millions of pounds more for their household goods.

The investigation is separate to the recent OFT investigations into tobacco and diary products (as reported 'In the News' 25 April).
