Ryanair increases charges prompting fears for future of cheap travel
Budget airline Ryanair has increased its baggage-handling and checking-in charges to £16 per bag and £8 for a return check-in. The move, which is being seen by some as a response to the rising price of aviation fuel (which accounts for around half of Ryanair's costs), has prompted fears that the era of cheap flights may be coming to a close. Increases in fuel costs and a weakening pound is making foreign travel increasingly expensive for UK holidaymakers.
