O2 launches national broadband service

Today O2 is launching its national home broadband service. O2 have teamed up with BT to offer national coverage. Prices for O2's mobile customers start at £7.50 a month. However other customers will have to receive the service through BT which will cost £17.50 a month. O2 are entering a highly competitive market. Sky Broadband announced that it added 229,000 customers in the last 3 months taking its overall internet users to 1.4 million. Tiscali, the Italian broadband provider with 1.8 million customers is up for sale. Sky, Carphone Warehouse, Orange and Vodafone have all expressed an interest in the company.
