BBC and ITV launch new freeview service
Today the BBC and ITV have launched their freeview TV service - Freesat. Freesat offers 80 TV and radio channels. That number is expected to rise to 200 by the end of the year. Freesat will also provide HD programming. As with existing freeview services, viewers and listeners will have to make a one off payment, to buy the equipment needed. This includes a digital box and satellite dish. Freesat is available to 98% of the country.
