Royal Mail future bleak after report highlights weakness
The future of Royal Mail has been called into question after an independent report commissioned by the Government found that, as a result of its strategy of opening up the postal service to competition from the private sector, there is now 'a substantial threat to Royal Mail's financial stability and, therefore, the universal service'.
The report also found that, while larger businesses have benefitted from increased competition, there was no evidence that this has helped either smaller businesses or consumers.
