British Gas hints at another price rise

British Gas has hinted at another price rise in gas and electricity later this year. This follows the 15% rise in January (reported 'In the News' 21 January 2008), which was not enough to cover the near doubling of the cost of wholesale gas prices. Wholesale gas prices are expected to rise further, reducing British Gas's profitability and making a price rise for consumers more likely. Since the January price rise, British Gas has lost 100,000 customers.
