Sports Direct to cease bogus 'closing down' sales

Sporting goods retail group, Sports Direct, has promised to stop advertising 'closing down sales' in stores that are not closing down after the OFT complained that it was misleading consumers. Sports Direct, which owns the brand names Sports World, Sportsdirect.com, Hargreaves and Gilesports, is said to have "responded positively" to the OFT and has undertaken not to run any similar promotions in the future.
