New laws to tackle rogue traders

New laws have come into force this weekend as part of a government effort to tackle rogue traders. Under the Consumer Protection Regulations, 31 trading practices have now been outlawed. This includes practices such as aggressive door-stop selling, advertising special offers and then claiming it is not in stock and false closing down sales. Approximately 750,000 businesses are estimated to be affected by the new legislation. The consumer group, the National Consumer Council have criticised the legislation for not going far enough.
