4,000 more Post Office's could face closure

MP's are due to warn this week that 4,000 post office's could face closure. This is on top of the 2,500 already scheduled for closure (reported 'In the News' 20 March). The Post Office (a Royal Mail subsidiary), have closed 4,600 branches in recent years and the total now stands at 14,000. If a further 4,000 post offices are shut, the total would be brought to 7,500 post office's nationwide. The Post Office is losing approximately £500,000 a day so closures will help improve it's poor finances, however closures will threaten local shops and services to the detriment of local communities.
