Orange announce plans to improve customer service
In a bid to improve customer service and reputation, Orange is undergoing a strategic restructuring. The once strong brand has suffered in recent years with a poor customer service record and flagging reputation. Orange now has 15.7 million customers which is 3 million less than its rivals O2 and Vodafone. Orange currently have a plebble-rating of -3.04 making it the 6th worst performing organisation and the worst mobile operator on Plebble.
Orange's plan is to put customer service at the heart of its strategy. The mobile provider is cutting 450 management jobs, but creating 500 frontline jobs. Orange is stopping expansion of call centres in India instead 100 jobs are going to call centre staff in the UK, with a view to returning all customer service functions to the UK in the future. Orange also plans to open 60 new shops, which will create 400 jobs for staff that will directly interact with customers.
