Virgin Media warns illegal download customers

Virgin Media have teamed up with the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) to launch a campaign to stop illegal downloading over the internet. Virgin Media and the BPI (which represents the major record labels), will both write letters to Virgin Media customers who are illegally downloading music and video files. Virgin Media's letter is to educate customers about illegal downloading, however the BPI letter warns that persistent offence could mean disconnection and/or court proceedings. Ultimately the BPI want internet service providers to sign up to a three strikes policy as proposed by MP's and reported 'In the News' 12 February.
