Upgraded iPhone expected to be cheaper, faster and smaller
Apple is launching it's second version of the iPhone in San Francisco today. The upgraded version will be 3G enabled which will give the iPhone faster internet browsing speeds, it will also be a smaller device. Apple is expected to change its existing business plan of fixing the price O2 customers pay for the iPhone (as reported 'In the News' on 7 November 2007). Instead Apple is expected to give O2 discretion on tariff and price and promote its online store through the iPhone. This could see the iPhone available for no up front cost on higher usage tariffs. The new iPhone is expected to be available in the UK next month.
