BT's new service: improve broadband speed or get money back

BT is offering to increase broadband speeds by at least 0.5Mps (Megabits per second) or get your money back. Broadband customers on a BT line, but any internet service provider can subscribe for the service which costs £90 for BT engineer to visit the household to improve speed through re-wiring and improving computer efficiency. If the engineer fails to improve speed the £90 will awarded back. Critics however say that the service is too expensive with other cheaper ways of boosting speed. BT's announcement comes as recent research conducted by Thinkbroadband found that broadband speeds are slower in rural areas (reported 'In the News' 3 June).
