Country-specific websites could be challenged by EU

Internet shopping across the EU is to be put under the spotlight following new measures expected to be announced today. The EU is to look at the practice of some websites of redirecting their users to country-specific versions, which in many cases means that special offers available to people in one country are unavailable to others.

The campaign is believed to be aimed at online retailers, such as Amazon, electronics manufacturers, such as Nintendo, and travel services, such as Eurostar, after complaints were received about such practices.
