Over 600,000 council workers vote to go on strike
Over 600,000 council workers from the Unison union voted to go on strike yesterday over pay. Union members are rejecting a 2.45% pay offer and voted to strike after their demand for a 6% increase was rejected. Union officials are expected to meet on Friday to decide the details of strike. The strike is expected to take place in July and last 48 hours. It will effect council services, including rubbish collection, libraries and social work, which will have a knock on affect of closing schools.
