Latest Tesco and Asda deals spark supermarket price war

Tesco and Asda are going head-to-head in a bid to win customers looking for the best value deals on their supermarket shop. From Monday, Tesco's is cutting it's prices by up to 50% on 3,000 items. Meanwhile from today, Asda are offering to sell core items such as milk and bread for 50p. This follows the discount supermarket, Aldi, reporting a 20% increase in sales in the last 4 weeks. The latest promotions by Tesco and Asda are sparking a supermarket price war. In March Sainsbury's launched it's campaign of 'Feed your family for a fiver'. Morrison's have cut 2,000 prices this month and in March Ocado announced that it would match Tesco's on 3,500 branded products (reported 'In the News').
