Asda could defy cheap booze restrictions in Scotland
Asda, the UK's second largest supermarket, has warned that it could circumvent plans by the Scottish National Party (SNP) to restrict the availability of cheap alcohol in Scotland. The plans, which would include a minimum price per unit on alcohol sold in Scotland, are intended by the SNP to counter the problem of binge-drinking. However, to get around the measures, Asda says that stores could simply open depots south of the border and home-deliver cheap booze into Scotland from there.
