BBC, ITV and C4 commercial TV on-demand service delayed
The launch of the BBC's, ITV's and Channel 4's commercial TV on-demand service, Kangaroo, has been delayed to 2009 at the earliest following its referral to the Competition Commission. The service, which was reported in 'In the News' on 28 November 2007, is to screen old programmes from BBC, ITV and Channel 4 archives.
It was due to launch later this year. However, rival broadcasters including BSkyB and Virgin Media raised concerns about the fairness of the service with the Office of Fair Trading who referred these to the Competition Commission.
