Terminal 5 still losing 900-1000 bags per day

Heathrow's Terminal 5 is still losing 900-1,000 bags per day, it has been revealed. In evidence given to MPs, union representatives for baggage handlers said that travellers on connecting flights through Terminal 5 have a one in 12 chance of being separated from their bags, prompting calls for further improvements to the baggage handling system.

There was widespread chaos following the launch of Terminal 5 earlier this year after around 28,000 bags went missing (reported in 'In the News' on 1 April 2008).
