Co-op promises more consumer choice after Somerfield takeover

Supermarket chain, the Co-operative Group, has promised to provide greater choice for consumers following its £1.57 billion takeover of rival Somerfield. The Co-op's and Somerfield's combined business will consist of more than 3,000 mainly convenience stores. The deal will make the Co-op the UK's 5th largest supermarket chain.
