British Gas confirms price rises

Energy company British Gas has confirmed a further round of anticipated price rises (reported in 'In the News' on 7 July 2008). The increases mean that from next month approximately sixteen million British Gas customers will pay about a third more for their gas and electricity with average bills rising to £1,300 a year.

Other energy providers are expected to follow suit.
