Network Rail's failings slammed by MPs
The bosses of railway infrastructure company Network Rail have been condemned by a committee of MPs for "widespread complacency" and for sharing more than £700,000 in bonuses that added "insult to injury" for "long-suffering passengers who had to struggle with the consequences of the company's failings".
The MPs' condemnation comes after a series of late-running engineering works so far this year (reported most recently in 'In the News' on 3 June 2008) causing widespread disruption to passengers.
