BBC loses childrens' personal data

National broadcaster the BBC has lost the personal details of hundreds of children hoping to take part in a cookery programme. The details, which were stored on a memory stick stolen from a BBC executive, included childrens' names, addresses, mobile numbers, dates of brith and even when they and their parents were due to be on holiday.

The BBC has apologised to the parents of the children concerned and suspended production on the cookery programme while a full investigation is carried out.
