'Big Four' supermarkets petrol price war escalates

The UK's 'Big Four' supermarkets, Morrisons, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury's, have annouced a further round of petrol price-cuts in a predicted price war (first reported in 'In the News' on 22 July 2008). The move is expected to benefit consumers but the Petrol Retailers Association has warned that 500 petrol stations could close this year as smaller forecourts are squeezed out of business.
