In the News - London transport

London transport costs will rise in January

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, will announce above inflation price rises for London transport today. The price rises are needed to fund an £84 million deficit in London's transport budget. To cover the deficit adult fares need to increase by 6% (1% above inflation). This would translate to a single peak time adult tube fare rising from £6.30 to £6.70. Despite the deficit the Mayor has pledged his support for the £16 billion Crossrail project and £30 billion London underground upgrade. The new fares will take effect from January next year.
