Sainsbury's launches 'Switch and Save' campaign
Today Sainsbury's is launching its 'Switch and Save' advertising campaign, which promotes own-brand over branded products. Research conducted for Sainsbury's shows that 163 of their own-brand products are 20% cheaper than their branded equivalents. This comes as food prices continue to rise. Since the beginning of the year average food prices in UK supermarkets have risen by 8.3% according to research conducted for the BBC. Some products have risen as much as 50%. This is sparking a price war and intensive competition between the supermarkets (reported 'In the News' 15 August). Sainsbury's latest campaign is part of it's bid to promote it's value for money and win cash strapped consumers.
