Amazon launches rival to itunes

Yesterday, Amazon introduced its new online MP3 service, designed to rival Apple's itunes. For an introductory period, Amazon is offering singles for 59p and chart albums for as little as £3. The new service will work on all devices, including ipods.

Unlike itunes, Amazon's service has no restrictions on the number of devices tracks can be played on or the number of copies made. However rivals have accused Amazon of providing inferior sound quality to increase download speeds and decrease data transfer costs.
