Government's Warm Front scheme is criticised

According to a Times Online article, complaints about the government's Warm Front scheme are mounting. Warm Front has also been criticised by the National Audit Office for “inefficient targeting of resources”. Warm Front is designed to help people in fuel poverty with grants to install insulation and efficient boilers. The central complaint appears to be that applicants have no control over who carries out the work leading to overcharging and poor quality work.

Last week, the government launched a comprehensive programme to get every home in the UK greener by 2030 (reported in 'In the News' on 13 Feb 09).
