How can you rate this appalling company as any better than -5? Since the company was turned from a state monopoly to an effective private monopoly the owners used the fact that if you want to leave the country on an aircraft you have to use them, to run their property down and take the profits and run. Now we have the unedifying spectacle of a British minister trying to drum up trade in India being told that that Heathrow is too poor a facility! On the last occaision I went through this appalling place I was stopped by a security guard because my 3 year old son was carrying a 5 X 3 cm bag with one teddy bear in it. If I put the bag in my lap top case that's not a security risk, but if my son carries it, it is. What a farce!! Quite apart from the fact that the shops and restaurants are filthy, over crowded and full of some of the most charmless staff I have ever come across, it is hopelessly overpriced. All over the place there is tax free advertised, but that doesn't mean lower prices, just more money for the business. And then you get the moronic robots with machine guns wandering about, they are supposed to be British policemen, but I wouldn't ask any of them the time. What a lovely welcome to Britain group they make for all the people coming to the UK for the 1st time. I never thought I would suggest that former Troskyite Ken Livingstone hasn't gone far enough, but when he said that Heathrow was a disgrace to London he was wrong - it is a disgrace to the nation. And no - Terminal 5 won't make a blind bit of difference. Same appalling service, same appalling people, same appalling place.

I'm not surprised that BAA are in trouble for their poor customer service. We (2 adults and 2 small children) recently flew from Gatwick for our holidays. My wife is breastfeeding and our baby was getting hungry. There was a huge queue to go through security but normally there is a fast track for families with small children. However, when we approached the BAA marshalls organising the queue to ask if we could go through the fast track so my wife could sit down and start feeding, we were told that the fast track was closed and they wouldn't open it for us... Not exactly customer service.
