I phoned Barclays today about a problem accessing their Internet based banking system. On my first attempt I had to answer various security questions twice and was then disconnected mid-conversation. On my second, I had to answer essentially the same set of security questions THREE times before finally being connected to someone who could help me. I fully understand the need for a security check to be carried out, but once should be sufficient while being transferred from person to person within Barclays.

They moved me to a PINSentry account with no notice on my business account. I only discovered this when I tried to pay a supplier with online banking. As I hadn't registered for Phone Banking this effectively meant that I was unable to transfer money out of my own account (that I pay business banking fees for) for 72 hours. A simple letter alerting me that they were making this change was all that was needed to stop me spending over an hour on the phone working out that I was screwed. I am also hugely frustrated that I can't opt of PINSentry for my personal account - if I'm not lugging the device around with me then I can't access my account online from the office or anywhere else. This is really poor. The recently updated website looks as if it has been designed by a colour blind retarded donkey. It has awful usabllity and is shamelessly designed simply to sell additional product rather than to give me a good experience. Barclays - you suck the big one and we are so over!

Got a call last week from RMA, Debt Collectors for £781 It turns out this debt was a Barclays Bank Account that was overdrawn, so I said that I had closed my Barclays Account Down nearly 2 Years Ago, and that I would contact them directly to discuss the matter with them instead of a 3rd Party. According to Barclays, they made a big mistake instead of closing my account and advising me I owed them £23, they reverted my address to my old one and continued to add charges, even when mail was returned to them they failed to act on it, so £23 turned into £781. Although Barclays have admitted it was their mistake they are refusing to do anything about it, now I am getting a phone call a day from RMA and after I have put the phone down after giving them my scripted speech about awaiting the outcome of complaints made to the OFT, CSA and FSO. Even though I have a Valid Complaint and Dispute, I cannot stop them from calling and texting and refusing to put anything on the so-called account notes other than to say I’m refusing to deal with the debt” Barclays Response is “We’ve Sold The Debt, It’s Nothing To Do With Us”

Easily the best bank I have ever dealt with-they have gone out of their way to help me and in these days of 'bailout banks' I am so assured that my bank have done it on their own!

Dreadful! The worst financial services company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with - and i deal with many in my job. Multiple problems and zero customer care or service - and I'm a "Premier customer" !!! stay away if you can.

My partner got made redundant. We went to see Barclays (our mortgage provider) end 2008 asking what our options were as we were struggling to meet mortgage payments. We were advised we could swap to an interest only mortgage for £50 fee, and could change back to repayment mortgage at a later date (for another £50 fee). We sent a letter and £50 cheque officially applying to change to interest only. Barclays returned the cheque with a letter saying they no longer offered this option and suggesting we should contact CAB if we were struggling to pay our mortgage.

I am desperatly trying to buy a house. I had a mortgage offer from Barclays/Woolwich, no fees full term tracker, BoE+0.84% on 60% LTV terms. After a purchase of my property fell through (in early October)I phoned Barclays to pospone the money transfer and explained that I will be buying another property immediately. They say there should be no problem with that. Next day I phoned Barclays again to make sure what the terms are and again I stressed that I will be getting a house very soon. I have been told that I shouldn't rush as the existing offer is valid for 6 months. As far as I know this is a standard condition. When I searched for a mortgage there was often a close that a deal can be booked for 6 months. I notified Barclays again when my offer on the house was accepted and stated that I am arranging my own valuation. All comments from Barclays were still positive. Next time I called Barclays to check if I should just send them the valuation report, I have been told that I need to fill in a form updating the details of the new house. I have been told that that should be all and my case will be transferred to another mortgage consultant. When I made a phone call to the mortgage consultant (early November, just before the interest rate cut was announced)he informed me that Barclays is increasing the interest rate on the mortgage offer by around 0.5% above BoE base rate. When I refused to accept the change to the offer I have been refered to Barclays complaint department/customer care team. Then for the first time since I have been dealing with Barclays I have been informed that it is Barclays policy to withdraw an offer following cancelation of a house purchase and that after a cancellation new product should be chosen. I spoke to several Barclays employees over several weeks after I reported cancellation of the first purchase and none of them informed me about such a policy. To the contrary I have been reassured that the offer is va…
