I was just looking to join - it will take 20 days to set up full service, but only 14 days to decide if it is good enough - surely this is incorrect. I don't want any service if it doesn't work, not to be already 6 days past being locked in for 18 months before it starts..... who do I write to.

Been with them for 2 years. There has been poor service for phone, broadband, websites and their wireless modem too. Complaits to Customer Service have been useless. Emails to CEO were refered to Customer Services and to Customer Services were refered to CEO!

Had internet connection and phone line with TalkTalk. No end of problems - totally unstable internet connection, goes down daily, MUCH slower than their assumed speed (they told me 3Mbps, I usually get 512Kbps if I'm lucky). When the connection fails, it's sometimes down for 10 minutes, sometimes down for an entire evening. Spent many MANY hours on the phone to TalkTalk technical support on several occasions, no resolution was found. First line tech support is based in India, and most of the agents who took my call were purely reading a script and had no technical knowledge. Epitomised by one question I was asked more than once: "Are you using a desktop or a laptop?" Like that matters. Going over to BT tomorrow, hoping for a better experience.

Since my last message posted in Jan 2009 I have managed to getTalktalk to agree to waive the £70 termination fee. My advice to any customer having problems is to IMMEDIATELY keep a log of all the phone calls and letters ( mine read like a comedy script ) I eventually got satisfaction through the Southampton office " customer service " They wont refund any of the cost of mail etc but at least I got the £70 cancelled.Even there they are like a comedy act I sent a letter to them with my name, address, phone number, account reference and e mail address What do they do !! write back to me using the information on my letter head and ask me to write back and confirm " for Data Protection purposes" my name, address, and bankers. They really have lost the plot. I am now with BT, a little bit more expensive but working well straight from the word GO.

TalkTalk failed to inform their sister company, Onetel, that I had switched from a previous dial up service to broadband, so I have continued to pay for the dial up service in addition to the broadband, Neither TalkTalk nor Onetel are prepared to accept responsibility and refund me. I was also kept hanging on the phone for ages and transferred about 4 times before being cut off whilst attempting to discuss the issue.

For several months I had problems with my internet and e mail service , provided by Talktalk , I had been a customer of talktalk since May 2006 and as time went by their internet service became more and more unreliable.Which resulted in hours being spent on the phone to their Technical Support centre attempting to get thing made right, each remedy was only temporary. At the beginning of November 2008 I purchased a new computer with Windows VistaWhich required a new modem from Talktalk this arrived but did not work a 2nd modem duly arrived and this one worked but I again had problems with the server. At this stage I decided I should log the calls I was making to Talktalk between 22 November and 20 Dec 2008 I had to make 16 phone calls to their Tecnical Support spending hours on the phone sometimes with successmost time not succesful. Enough was enough, I decided to change my supplier, even though I have been a customer with them for 2 and a half years they now want to charge me £70 termination charge. Dont bother writing to the company they do not reply to letters either.

Dont give up I had exactly the same problems see my complaint on the page about 3 above yours eventually I did get them to waive the £70 after threatening to write to the press. I eventually managed to get in touch with their Southampton office who did sort it out.

Basically, you get what you pay for. Their new price plans that let you add bells and whistles aren't as good value for money as they used to be compared to some of the opposition. O.K. while it works, but Talktalk's service centres are utterly useless (based in India), especially when it comes to broadband. "Members forum" online assitance is very good though, but not much good if your problem is that you can't access the internet.

The price of the TalkTalk phone + broadband tempted me to sign up. I have been with them for five months now, all was fine until I had a problem. I have been without telephone and sporadic (at best) broadband now for nearly four weeks. I have spent in excess of 10 hrs having made around 20 phone calls, written letters of compliant etc, but I am still no closer to having my service restored. I even tried to cancel my contract (18 months) with them but they insist on charging £70. I am trapped in a TalkTalk nightmare! Let this be a lesson to those trying to save money!

Talktalk promise a hassle free move from your current telephone and broadband provider. It's much cheaper than most, so it's worth a go. The day of the switch comes... phone is easy, no hassle at all. Broadband switch and setting up multiple computers on a new wireless network? A living hell. Especially if you depend on it for work. I'm questioning why on earth I did this.

I have been with talktalk from the eaqrly days. Usually when things go wrong it is my fault. Sometimes though it is not. Most of the time the service is good and the value for money very good
