Slow postage. Site claims "24 hours" for a computer. Until you change any of the specification, then it becomes "3 days", and this change is easily missed if you don't keep your eyes open. Still, 3 days until they ship + fast delivery might lead you to think you'd have it in 4 business days? Not so apparently: "We estimate your order to be shipped 3 business days. We estimate your order will be delivered to your shipping address on or before 30 Apr, 2009 - 01 May, 2009" That's 7-8 business days from the day I placed the order (yesterday) :-( Fingers crossed that the "before" qualifier pulls through.

I converted to mac about 8 months ago and still loving the whole experience. It started with excellent service in the Apple store in Regent Street and I've never looked back.

I signed up for a free 60 day trial of MobileMe, including a mac.com email address. This was then extended by MobileMe for another 30 days. I just received an email telling me that my trial ends tomorrow and after that I would lose my email address and all my data and settings. I was shocked that they've only given me 24 hours notice. If I'd happened to be away or not checked my emails, I could easily have missed this and therefore seriously inconvenienced. It would have been more reasonable to have received a reminder 14 days, or even 7 days before. As a previously very happy Mac customer, it makes it all the more bewildering that Mac seems to have shown a complete disregard for customers on this.

Products may be a little more expensive than the cheapest on the market, but you get what you pay for - they work! I have used both hardware and software support several times over the years and it has always been excellent - on one occasion they repaired a broken power supply that was well past warranty at no expense including pickup and delivery from my home at a time of my choosing.

I hate Apple. I don't know why, but I do, and always have. The iPhone really is rather special though, so I might let them off for that one. Although it does beggar belief how they can make something so revolutionary yet not include MMS support. Or let you create a different folder to put photos in, or forward an SMS on, or save specific SMS before you delete the rest, or take a video with the camera, or use bluetooth to transfer files, or tether to your laptop to use as a modem. Etc etc. It does a lot of things brilliantly, and there's certainly no phone out there that does it all so well. But they seem to have left out the really simple stuff that everyone's been doing for years....

Apple's Customer Service policy is absolute rubbish. My MacBook developed a fault after eight months and despite there being no Apple Repair Centre in my vicinity, Apple insisted that I take the laptop halfway across London to one of their authorised centres. After much trouble, I managed to get Apple to pick up my MacBook for repair from the store I bought it from. Six weeks and no response from Apple despite numerous requests for an update. I even wrote to the Managing Director of UK operations and have received no reply! Bloody awful service from a company with an over inflated ego.

I've had iTunes for quite a while now but the Apple updates seem to have stopped it working. Now Apple just tried to install Safari on my machine. Hang-on, I didn't ask for Safari. Just because I downloaded 1 program, what gives them the right to install another program under the guise of an "update". Very underhand, I'd say.

I am appalled at the pricing policy of Apple. In late November and mid December 2007 I bought two copies of the photo management and editing program Aperture - one for my wife and one for myself - at £219 for each copy. About eight weeks later Apple offers an upgrade to the new version of Aperture for £65 each and rubs salt into the wound by reducing the non-upgrade price of the software to £129. [Eight weeks will have cost me £310]. Apple has an extremely aggressive and rigid pricing policy and offers no discretion to its customer service representatives. As someone who is being wooed away from Windows by the Apple superior product, this makes Apple seem an even worse company than Microsoft.

I'm actually really cross with Apple's iTunes. you buy an iPod which is a great piece of kit - stylish, well-designed, good quality sound - but it is only as good as its weakest link, ie iTunes... I've had nothing but bother from iTunes. Constant updates which seemed to play havoc with my PC, it even stopped Outlook working for a while - what's that all about??! It's now stopped working altogether, so my music collection is stuck on my iPod. OK, it's a free download but it's so flakey, I'll be looking for open source alternatives in future.
