Rating guidelines
These guidelines are designed to protect you as a consumer and ensure your ratings have as much impact as possible. Please read them carefully. If you have any questions please contact us at moc.elbbelp#ofni
To qualify as a rater on Plebble:
- You should be:
- Why?
- A consumer who has had a genuine experience of a business/ organisation through purchasing or receiving a service
- Genuine experiences help other consumers make the right decisions
- You shouldn't be:
- Why?
- A competitor of the business/organisation
- Competitors are unlikely to have a genuine experience of a competing business/organisation and are likely to have a bias towards their own organisation
- A employee of the business/organisation
- Employees are likely to have a bias towards their employer
- An ex-employee of the business/organisation
- Ex-employees are likely to have a bias (positive or negative) towards their ex-employer
When leaving a rating:
- You should:
- Why?
- If possible, provide a comment
- A comment provides an explanation as to why you gave your rating. It will give your rating more weight with other consumers and help businesses improve their service
- Try to tell a story
- Telling a story in your comments helps other consumers relate to your issue
- Provide constructive criticism
- Constructive criticism not only helps other consumers understand your issue, it also helps businesses improve their service
- Back up your statements with facts
- Backing up your statements will give your rating more credibility and other consumers will learn to trust and rely on your rating
- You shouldn't:
- Why?
- Leave a false, unfair and inaccurate rating
- Anything false, unfair or inaccurate is misleading to other consumers and may result in legal proceedings against you (see 'Your legal position' below)
- Use offensive language in your comments
- Offensive language is not only hurtful to others it also does not provide constructive criticism
- Rate the same business/organisation more than once on the same issue
- More than one rating on the same issue gives those ratings an unfair weighting on the business/organisation concerned
- Provide personal details of individuals in your comments
- Providing personal details of individuals is against Data Protection legislation
- Be defamatory
- Being defamatory could lead to legal proceedings against you (see 'Your legal position' below)
Your legal position
You are solely responsible for your ratings and comments on Plebble. As such, if you post any material about a business/organisation that is, for example, defamatory or in another way unlawful, you could be sued by the business/organisation concerned.
While your ratings are posted anonymously, if a business/organisation thinks that it may have a claim against you, your identity may be ordered to be revealed by a Court.
Complying with these guidelines will significantly increase the likelihood of you staying within the law. However, if you are in any doubt, you should seek your own legal advice.

Dispute policy
Under our dispute policy, ratings can be disputed by other consumers and the business/organisation concerned.
To back up your rating on Plebble, please collect as much evidence as possible to support it. Information such as receipts and correspondence with the business/organisation will help us support your case.
